Sunset Cruises

Sunset Cruise in Goa.

Ninety minutes on the Mandovi as the light goes, from ₹400 per person.

The sunset cruise is the cheapest good hour in Goa and the one we send first-timers on. Boats leave the Panaji jetties in the late afternoon, run out towards the river mouth while the sun drops behind Reis Magos, and are back before dinner.

Five boats, live availability, and prices that do not change between the screen and the jetty.

What the evening looks like

  • About 90 minutes on the water — two hours on the Princesa.
  • Departures timed to the sunset, so the exact time shifts through the year.
  • Snacks and soft drinks on board rather than a full meal; several boats sell drinks separately.
  • Music on deck, and enough open space to stand at the rail rather than sit through it.
  • Back at the jetty in time for dinner in Panaji or a drive back to the North Goa beaches.

Why the sunset cruise and not the dinner cruise

Because it is short, cheap and hard to get wrong.

If it is your first evening in Goa, if you have small children, if you already have a dinner booking, or if you simply want the river and the light without committing three hours and a buffet — this is the one. At ₹400 it costs less than two coffees on the beach road.

If you want the whole evening handled, with dinner and a show, book a dinner cruise instead. Many people do both across a week, and they do not feel like the same trip twice.

Getting to the jetty

All five sunset cruises board on the Panaji waterfront in Central Goa. From Calangute or Baga allow about 40 minutes, more on a Friday or Saturday evening; from Anjuna or Vagator, closer to an hour; from South Goa, plan on 60–90 minutes.

Arrive 20–30 minutes early. Sunset departures are the least flexible sailings of the day — the boat leaves with the light, not with you.

The best months for it

November to February gives you the clearest evenings and the most comfortable temperature on deck. March to May is still fine, just hotter before the sun drops.

During the monsoon, roughly June to September, river sailings are restricted and can be called off on the day if the water is rough. Check the listing's calendar before building an evening around it.

How booking works

Frequently asked questions

How much is a sunset cruise in Goa?

From ₹400 per person for about 90 minutes on the Mandovi; the two-hour Princesa Sunset Cruise is ₹450. That is the full price — nothing is added at checkout.

How long is a sunset cruise in Goa?

About 90 minutes for most boats, two hours on the Princesa. Boarding opens 20–30 minutes before departure.

What time does a Goa sunset cruise leave?

Departures are timed to the sunset, so they move through the year — earlier in December, later in April. Your confirmation carries the exact time for the date you book.

Is food included on a sunset cruise?

Snacks and soft drinks rather than a meal. If you want dinner on board, book a dinner cruise instead — those run about three hours and start at ₹850.

Is a sunset cruise worth it in Goa?

For ₹400 and 90 minutes, it is the easiest way to see Panaji and the Mandovi from the water. It is the cruise we recommend to first-time visitors and to families with young children.

Where do sunset cruises depart from in Goa?

From the jetties on the Panaji waterfront in Central Goa — about 40 minutes from Calangute and Baga, longer from South Goa. The boarding point is on your booking confirmation.

Can I book a sunset cruise on the same day?

Usually yes, as long as you book before the cut-off shown on the listing. On weekends and through December, book ahead — the sunset sailings fill first.

Do sunset cruises run in the monsoon?

Only when conditions allow. River cruises are restricted between June and September and can be cancelled on the day for safety, so check the live calendar on the listing.
