Scuba Diving at Grande Island — PADI

Experience scuba diving at Grande Island, one of Goa’s most accessible beginner dive areas. This premium Discover Scuba-style experience is designed for first-time divers, non-swimmers and nervous beginners who want extra supervision before entering open water.

Your day starts with hotel pickup from North Goa or direct reporting at Sinquerim Jetty. From there, you’ll complete pool training at the dive school base before heading out to sea. The training session helps you get comfortable with the gear, learn basic breathing, underwater signals and simple safety rules before the open-sea dive.

After training, you’ll board the boat from Sinquerim for the ride towards Grande Island. Dolphin sightings sometimes happen during the boat journey, although they are not guaranteed. Grande Island is commonly used for beginner diving in Goa because of its relatively shallow dive profiles and accessible reef areas. Online dive references describe Grande Island as suitable for beginners, with dive depths often ranging from shallow beginner zones to deeper sites for experienced divers.  

The dive itself is conducted with dedicated instructor support. You can choose between a 20-minute or 40-minute underwater option depending on the package, comfort level and operator availability. Your instructor stays with you throughout the dive, helping with equipment, buoyancy, movement and safety.

Expect warm water, reef patches, small fish, soft coral and rocky underwater formations. Visibility can vary by season, tide and sea conditions, so this should be positioned as a safe beginner dive rather than a luxury tropical reef dive. Some days are clear and colourful; other days are more about the experience of breathing underwater for the first time.

Your package includes all essential scuba equipment, pool training, boat transfer, snack and refreshments, and a complimentary HD dive video. After the dive, the boat returns to Sinquerim, followed by hotel drop-off. This experience is best between October and May, while many operators pause or restrict operations during the June–September monsoon period.
